Description

This ANNOTATED GLOSSARY OF FUNGAL PALYNOMORPHS is the result of three intense days of scientific exchange at a meeting suggested by Earl Peterson and hosted by Alan K. Graham and Kent State University. The initial framework of the glossary was prepared by Bill Elsik and Earl Peterson.

The glossary is designed for fossil fungi; much of the spore and fruiting structure of living fungi are not preserved. There is a wealth of published information on extant fungi. Existing mycologic terms have been retained here where feasible.

We are indebted to Robert L. Shaffer for an independent review. Special thanks go to Jan Jansonius and Al Traverse for their overseeing the linguistics. Each member of the Workgroup has seen the final copy with an eye to editorializing. In addition, comments from the L.S.U. Shortcourse on Fungal Palynomorphs held in Baton Rouge, October 1981, are also incorporated.
